Sahelia embodies a new vision in luxury, a design sensibility anchored in the traditions of Africa. The world of Sahelia revolves around impeccably crafted, modern accessories for fashion and home that are lifestyle statement on the importance of remembering our future.

The Founder

A native of Senegal, Fatim Sow’s creative sensibility was influenced by the cultures of the desert and its neighboring lands. From her father’s engineering, and later on business experience, she developed an appreciation for precision and entrepreneurial creativity. From her mother, she inherited a keen eye for color and design.

Fatim saw an opportunity to introduce freshness and flair in the conservative world of luxury bed linens by incorporating the rich elements of the African culture into a modern, functional and impeccably crafted product made in Italy. Her instinctive eye for design, her understanding world-class manufacturing processes and deep attachment to African traditions led to the launch of Sahelia in 2004. Sahelia linens have been sold to the most upscale linen retailers and interior designers in the US and have attracted a loyal following of customers across the globe in Mexico, Canada, the Caribbean, France, India, Senegal, Morocco and South Africa.

Fatim was an early and a passionate believer of Africa’s place in the world of modern design. Today, she is setting her sights on home and fashion accessories that perpetuate the same design inspiration that came to define Sahelia.

Fatim graduated with a Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from Cornell University. She holds an MBA from Harvard University and attended the Fashion Institute of Technology’s Textile Design Program. She spent seven years developing and launching new products in the Food, Personal Care and Textile industries, first as a Process Engineer, then as a Brand Manager. She lives in New York with her three daughters.
